My candlelight flickers <br />In the same Delta breeze <br />That tosses around the trees; <br />Music drifts <br />Across the yard. <br /> <br />“Who needs it anyhow! ” <br />Precedes the slap of placed bet; <br />Fans snap open, <br />Click and swish <br />At cool summer sweat; <br />Crackling, sizzling steaks. <br />Oh give me a break <br />Not the evening I planned <br />I’m outmanned tonight. <br /> <br />Still, that catchy Salsa <br />Drowns out the daily grind; <br />Picks up my spirits. <br />I pour my wine <br />Enjoy my precious down time; <br />Let it all take me away <br />To that other world tonight <br />Ole’!
