I Walked in the Woods, on a Moonlit path <br />As Fireflies gathered around to Dance <br />And Crickets and a Nightingale Chirped a Tune <br />As a Distant Wolf, Howls at the Moon <br /> <br />And a Glow-Eyed Owl, Territorially Asked Who-o-o-! <br />dares Invade and Interrupt Our Hullabaloo? <br />and the Leaves on the Oaks, Rustled an Answer <br />across the Sky… and Wind Breezily Whispered… <br /> <br />… Must Be A Night Creature <br />Who Cannot Sleep <br />Must Have A Night-Nature <br />And Ventures Deep … <br />Into The Nightshade and Hollyhocks <br />Her Eyes, like Two Nimbus, Shimmery-Spots… <br /> <br />… Now, The Path lay close, to a Bubbling Stream <br />Which led to a Pool, of a Mirror-Sheen <br />Denizens of the Dark, Grouped Near the Obsidian-Ink <br />… in Hushed Agreement, as I Knelt To Drink… <br /> <br />… Must Be A Night Creature <br />She Drinks at Leisure <br />Must Have A Night-Nature <br />Look At Her Stature… <br />Intrepid-Instinct, Even Blasé- Imbued <br />Even in Silhouette- Shadows and Solitude… <br /> <br />… And, as I Stroll Back, the Way I Came <br />The Mysterious-Darkness Asked: “Had I Ever Been Tame? ...” <br />I Raised My Face, Replied, “Yes… Under God’s Hand… <br />… And as I Stepped into the Tent... added… “And That Of My Man”… <br /> <br />… Must Be A Night Creature <br />Hunting Treasure <br />Must Have A Night-Nature <br />Hunting Pleasure… <br />… in The Measure of His Sweet Kissed-Reaction <br />In The Measure of My Own, Night-Predator Passion…<br /><br />MoonBee Canady<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/night-nature/
