Actually, I had a thought about Beginnings,
Because they're notoriously easy things to Catch.
Clearly, though we plan to the smallest Detail,
Definitely the trick is easy Enough.
Evidently, all a beginning needs is a Fool.
Fate steps in, perchance; or God,
Gracious and beneficent, lends a Hand.
Hardly a moment goes by that some Idle
Ignoramous doesn't give events a Jerk,
Jostling things into motion like a swift Kick.
Kisses make for good starts, or leaps, in Lieu -
Leaping is to starting as tiny is to Microchip.
Many are the foolish starts made by the Naive.
Nevertheless, as important as foundation is the Overpinning;
Outside support is important, and foundations you can Patch.
Perhaps finishing's the task that daunts us til we Quail,
Quaking in fear. For good endings are Rough.
Rarely do we tie things off- instead we merely run out the Spool,
Stopping without finishing, journey's end not Trod,
Taking French leave, exit Unplanned,
Unwilling to attend to matters quite Vital.
Verily, we will not see the closure of the Work,
Waiting, as it were, for a downbeat Xylophonic.
Xrays would help you see, but cut right through You.
Yes, too often we focus on beginning with Zip.
Zounds! A good finish is what we ought Achieve.

Heidi K. Haskell

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-thought-on-beginnings-a-semi-reflective-acrostic/
