Where have the years gone? <br />I can remember a time when we were so close we could finish each other’s sentences. <br />Since when did time start passing quickly in the blink of an eye? <br />Wasn’t it just yesterday when we could sense each other’s moods just by standing it the same room? <br />We could read each other’s thoughts with one look in the eye. <br />A tiny slouch and I knew you were sick. A small flat in my voice, you know bad things were going on at home. <br />When’s the last time we really talked? <br />About family, <br />about life, <br />about…us? <br />Remember when the longest we went without seeing each other was two days? <br />Just Saturday <br />and Sunday <br />Why does it feel like we are drifting further from the island of friendship and into the sea of confusion and insanity? <br />Why is our relationship dissipating faster than papyrus paper in boiling water? <br />Why isn’t there a button you can press on life that is like a reset to get things back on track where they belong? <br />Where have the years gone?<br /><br />Salimah Davis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/where-have-the-years-gone/
