ACCEPT WITH GRATITUDE <br /> TO RETURN IN HUMILITY! <br />Let us not feel superior for having given, <br />Or feel inferior for having taken! <br />We grow up in life mostly receiving, <br />As a part of our very upbringing! <br />We take sustenance from our mothers, <br />We take knowledge from our teachers, <br />Companionship from our friends, <br />And unconditional love from our pets! <br />We take food from the earth, and our <br />very breath, - <br />Is the oxygen we inhale - which the earth <br />regenerates! <br />Yet do we feel obliged enough to return <br />our gifts? <br />There should be a time to take and a time <br />to give ! <br />One day we must return all our obligations, - <br />Trough demonstrative and positive actions! <br />Mere lip service cannot compensate, - <br />Nor by shedding tears for the dead! <br />By caring for our elders and planting more <br />trees, <br />By our efforts to become a better human being, <br />And by keeping our environment forever clean! <br />By accepting all our blessings with gratitude, <br />To return them with humility as we always should! <br /> -Raj Nandy <br /> 31 Oct 09 <br /> New Delhi <br />(* Inspired by an article I read recently!)<br /><br />RAJ NANDY<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/accept-with-gratitude-to-return-in-humility/
