The man <br />in Rembrandt's print room <br /> <br />demonstrates exactly <br />how it was... <br /> <br />...is done. <br /> <br />And in the half light <br />it is easy to see <br /> <br />the great man <br />himself <br /> <br />greet the visitor <br />husky with warmth <br /> <br />tell of this <br />hellish cold <br /> <br />blow his nose <br />& show us <br /> <br />the process of print <br />coming into being <br /> <br />the slight sheen <br />of perspiration <br /> <br />as he turns <br />with a curse <br /> <br />the wheel <br /> <br />with hand & foot <br /> <br />and sees his world <br />materialise <br /> <br />in ink. <br /> <br />Satisified with his mastery <br />he wipes his nose <br /> <br />the great man <br />(for the moment) <br /> <br />alive in <br />this man <br /> <br />with the cold <br /> <br />and with what little <br />fading light <br /> <br />the window <br />affords.<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/man-with-a-cold/
