The broom danced around the room <br />pushed by unseen hands. <br />I stood there hypnotised, <br />and then came the crackling laughter <br />that echoed in my ears <br />and seem to come from everywhere. <br />It stopped and a voice shouted <br />if you know what’s good for you <br />you’ll get out of here. <br />The laughter returned closer than before. <br />My heart thumped loudly <br />as I groped in the darkness searching for the door <br />through spider’s webs and endoplasmic goo <br />I grasped the handle, <br />opened it and into the night ran. <br />Promising myself every step of the way <br />never to go back there again.<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/halloween-quartet-no-3-the-witches-house/
