From my stance upon the clifftop
I can see the waves crash below
The foam rages and froths upon
Rocks that fight to stay above
Wind whips through my hair
Lashing my face with anger
Natures beauty at its finest
Wraps me in its arms tightly
Keeps me standing here
Buffeted upright by its force
The keening of the seagulls
Pierces my soul and heart
As they swoop and rise
Held aloft by the currents
That swarm in the air today
Storm clouds turn to black
As they flow across the sky
Reaching out with icy fingers
They consume all colour
That exists in our world
Replacing with shadows
That turn to sheets of rain
Flickers appear on horizons
As lightening begins its dance
A ballet performed at speed
As if only for me it seems
I'll stay here on the clifftop
And watch her roll around the bay
Until the heavens are quiet
And once again she sleeps

Fiona Davidson

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/natures-ballet/
