He does not yearn for to be the toast of the town <br />Or he has never daydreamed of widespread renown <br />Quite happy with his lot his type becoming rare <br />Down to earth and unassuming and so self aware <br />To live a decent life he does the best he can <br />Devoted to his wife and three young children the family man <br />Negative things of others you never hear him say <br />And to help those in need of help he goes out of his way <br />One not seen very often in the local pub <br />Or not a member of any social grouping or any sporting club <br />Though not hard to like he is not that well known <br />Yet as a person in a class of his own <br />He rises for work before dawn every working day <br />And he surely does work hard for his take home pay.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-family-man/
