The constellations' brilliant light <br />are your eyes shinning; <br />that illume comes out only at night <br />in my room. <br /> <br />The Milky Way is your silky hair <br />made of summer moons <br />and autumn hues; <br /> <br />I can reach and almost touch it <br />if I dream. <br /> <br />You laugh at my silly thought <br />when I tell you them <br />and aspire in your secret heart <br />to be them; <br />and I say <br />never worry you are <br />in my heart <br />and I add only a tiny bit of flattery to all this. <br /> <br />But be clear <br />flattery is a good thing <br />because I see you aspire to make <br />its vision true, <br />thus becoming <br />in my eyes <br />and in the universe <br />that constellation <br />true. <br />What good a ladder <br />which does not have <br />rungs <br />to guide the upward climb? <br />What good the path <br />without destination. <br />You are the ladder <br />and I have made it for you <br />in my dreams.<br /><br />Lonnie Hicks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/constellation-light/
