In Southern England we had our first snow <br />of the Winter today Friday 18 December. <br />Only 25cm but everything ground to a halt. <br />Schools were closed - Parties cancelled <br />Roads blocked trains and planes services <br />all disrupted. It always snows sometime in <br />Winter in the UK but we always treat it as if <br />it something alien and unpredicted! <br /> <br />It snowed last night <br />it blowed last night <br />Cars got stuck <br />In the road last night <br />Woke up this mornin' <br />An' everything white <br />All 'cos it snowed last night <br /> <br />It's cold today <br />I feel old today <br />My sheep are all <br />Safe in the fold today <br />Everyones wrapt up <br />For the cold today <br />Snowballs by children <br />Are rolled today. <br /> <br />My sledge is steady <br />My pledge is ready <br />I'm tucked up in my sledge <br />With my favorite Teddy <br />I just hope my Reindeer <br />Can keep us all steady <br />The clouds with snow <br />Look very leady. <br /> <br />We all love the picture <br />When it snows and snows <br />It blows into drifts <br />When the north wind blows <br />Children love it <br />It tickles their nose <br />But the old folk are happy <br />When it all goes! <br /> <br />So let it snow <br />So let it go <br />It only comes <br />In Winter you know <br />We feed the birds <br />With nuts on a string <br />To help them sing <br />It will soon be Spring! <br /> <br />So never grumble <br />When you see snow <br />It come one day <br />The next day go <br />Be glad that you're <br />Not an E S K I M O <br />Let it snow - Let it snow <br />LET IT SNOW! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! <br /> <br />(John Knight - Frozen in Colchester - December 2009)<br /><br />John Knight<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/1012-snow-snow-snow/
