I cast my eye across this corrupted land <br />Where life and death is often bought so cheap <br />Where evil men carry guns and cruel smiles <br />Past small orphans, who softly wail and weep. <br /> <br />I cast my eye across this corrupted land <br />And feel a sad tear land upon my cheek <br />For this is the land where the devils stay strong <br />And the saints are all kept silent and weak. <br /> <br />I cast my eye across this corrupted land <br />And shake my head in complete disgust <br />As I watch the innocent being beaten <br />By police who are anything but just. <br /> <br />I cast my eye across this corrupted land <br />And know deep down that good can never win <br />Not within this terrible and bankrupt place <br />For, this is a land of shadow and sin.<br /><br />J.A McManus<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-land-of-shadow-and-sin/
