I am a phenomenal man <br />(Recalling Maya Angelou) <br />Hey, I am a man <br />Not Raymond’s ‘Complete Man’ <br />of the showroom ad <br />But an ugly looking unimpressive man. <br />I am not handsome, <br />Not enough well –built to <br />get invitations from a model contest <br />The beard and the moustache <br />The long stride of my step <br />The poor look of my big eyes <br />Made me look a little odd <br />And I never got any billet doux from a gal. <br />The invisible muscle of my arms <br />The quick thinning hair of my head <br />The piping of voice <br />Which the women around me talk about <br />But women themselves get wonder-struck <br />When some of them <br />Loved me in secret <br />Flashed a quick glance <br />Or gifted me a lovely kiss <br />And the other women looked green in jealousy <br />To be frank dear, <br />That very moment <br />I felt that I am a man <br />A Phenomenal man <br />The man’s me.<br /><br />Ratan Bhattacharjee<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-am-a-phenomenal-man/
