He did not win the Nobel Prize <br />For Literature nor Peace. <br />He was not hyped up to the skies, <br />The late Miguel Delibes. <br /> <br />While not too well-known overseas, <br />In Spain he was a hit – <br />His output selling steadily, <br />Though never topping lists. <br /> <br />His themes are universal, <br />Yet his work is mainly set <br />In the one-time Spanish Capital, <br />His cradle, Valladolid. <br /> <br />Perhaps you were quite unaware <br />That he had ever lived, <br />So are not saddened by the news: <br />Miguel Delibes is dead. <br /> <br />But if, by chance, you’re casting round <br />For anything to read, <br />I recommend you check him out – <br />Try something by Delibes. <br /> <br />17/3/10<br /><br />Denys E.
