A million cleansing of no avail <br />If piety in mind doesn’t prevail, <br />Being quiet restores not the peace <br />If we vibrant conscience fleece. <br /> <br />Delusive hunger doesn’t satisfy <br />If ever explosive desires tie, <br />A thousand crafty attempts made <br />But out of mire I couldn’t wade. <br /> <br />By His laws the forms compose, <br />By His laws the life flows, <br />Obeying His dictates life glows, <br />But decoding them none knows. <br /> <br />By His order are good and bad, <br />Some are happy others sad; <br />On some shines His Grace, <br />Others in death-birth’s circle race. <br /> <br />All pervading is His law, <br />Nothing is beyond its claw; <br />If one comes to know His Law <br />He gets rid of ego’s flaw. <br /> <br />Source: Japuji Sahib <br /> <br />* Only discordant notes are mine with due apologies.<br /><br />C.
