What power it must contain, <br />Its interior design, intelligent and graceful. <br />Filled with crescent love for many, many years, <br />Adapted to the dark by emitting omnipotent light, <br />Alike with phosphorous in its ways, <br />The thermochromic light shines, <br />Has many abilities, hope is one, <br />The deafening silence is tremendous, <br />Only blocked by a wolfs defiant howl, <br />Fell from the pack to fend for itself, <br />With only courage to protect him from relentless predators who possess no feeling, <br />Though the sun dominates the sky, <br />The moons essence threatens it, <br />Just like noughts and crosses. <br />Immortality like no man has ever seen, <br />People claim to have seen faces on it, <br />Astronauts from the unknown, <br />Though the moon itself has a face, <br />Containing no race or gender, <br />Not hypocritical, prejudice or stereotypical <br />Unlike the world we live in today. <br />From communist Korea to capitalist America, <br />It shines for all to see, <br />It’s been through world wars, <br />Experienced the good times and the bad, <br />Like an unknown force, omniscient and kind, <br />Without it, we would live in a pitch black world, <br />Feeling blind, though seeing everything clearly, <br />It’s seen you grow from a boy to a man, <br />With no judgement passing its lips, <br />It has no beginning middle or end, <br />Just a bright light bringing me closer to you, <br />The moon is yours and all that’s in it, <br />And more, you’ll be a man, my son.<br /><br />Alfie Button<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-moon-is-yours/
