We went up to Big Bear, <br />Up the ice covered roads. <br />We went up in the sky, up in the air, <br />climbing high like mountain goats. <br /> <br />The beauty that my eyes beheld, <br />The snow drifting, through the pines, <br />My heart beating fast, so hard to quell, <br />Mountain air, so cold and fine. <br /> <br />A blanket of snow, covered the land, <br />And the sky cried snowflakes, all around, <br />I rubbed pine needles, with my hands, <br />And dropped them, on the frozen ground. <br /> <br />My frozen hands, picking pine cones, <br />My wife making angels, in the snow, <br />This is so beautiful, and far from home, <br />But there's no place else, I want to go. <br /> <br />My son putting snow chains, on his Dodge, <br />While a blizzard, roared all around, <br />Then we had dinner, at a steak house lodge, <br />Up there in that quaint, little mountain town. <br /> <br />I've seen wonders all my life, <br />The good Lord has been kind to me. <br />And I got to see them with the love of my life. <br />And people who are dear to me. <br /> <br />Thanks to our son, Staff Sgt.
