^^Alone, crying into an abyss, <br />You have seen horrors but stood strong, <br />A few careless words <br />And you are broken <br /> <br />Alone, surrounded by friends and <br />Held in loving embraces, Alone <br />You are anger and everyone’s pain <br />Useless, pitiful, alone. Alone in a crowd. <br /> <br />Clouds, made of water vapour, a hard and ugly truth. <br />Make gentle seats. You will sit on those clouds <br />There you and I are wholly and fully alone. <br />Banished, glad to have expelled yourself. <br /> <br />Alone crying into an abyss <br />What now? <br />A loving hand to lead the way <br />A gentle firm and solid grasp brightens the path from the brink. <br /> <br />Can I trust it <br />I did before, unquestioningly <br />But time has aged my judgement <br />I am made weary by experience <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Experience of sleepless nights and hate filled eyes <br />Of sideways glances at my hollowed core <br />Of hopeless agony <br />And worst of all of heaving, swirling confusion. <br /> <br />For now though I am too tired to protest <br />Too weakened to resist the support <br />But know now that my trust is cold <br />And brittle from your repeated chilling <br />^^<br /><br />Lexi Smith<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/alone-703/
