On a cold Christmas Eve night
I sit in the full moon light,
Houses lit in red, green, and white
I grab the cuff of my collar and hold it tight.
A family dinner in a nearby house
I see the scampering of a small gray mouse.
To him, this day is misunderstood
Not knowing the importance of life as we could.
Because this day brings a new begining
Of a love that is never ending.
Knowing the happiness and joy that brings to this day
Wishing the love and hope would be always.
A peace to all those who share
Snuggled warm from the bitter air.
I crack the reins of my brand new sled
And wait for the children to rest.
I'll deliver a gift to each boy and girl
Then return home for the next Christmas year.

10-15-99

Jason Summers

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/from-his-view/
