In the silence
of unspoken verse
I search for words
that makes sense
even when said.
I seek the truth
in the lie,
whenever
I hear you say,
‘I love you’.
Have I lost love,
in the search
of the unheard?

Unnamed, are my heart’s
twisted agonies.
They come seeking me
in painful spaces,
silences build for themselves
amongst us.

Death
too cradles,
in its stillness,
fragments
of my thought.
You cannot see me
behind my closed eyes.
But, the smile
that fleets
across your lips
knows of thoughts,
I left astray
in the silence...

O Sudhir Janardhanan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/in-the-silence/
