I've fallen as I often do <br />for sullen eyes beckoning: and <br />wispy defiant vulnerabilities, <br />a combination I cannot resist <br />and you lay upon my table <br />this melange, you know <br /> is both your soul <br />and your artifice; <br />but who among us <br />does not mix this <br />in our offerings <br />which exactly mirror <br />our glorious tattered histories? <br /> <br />Present me your soft spots <br />beneath your iron gloved history <br />and I shall kiss its velvet layer <br />attempting to digest <br />biscuit and the embedded stone <br />for this is Romeo and Juliette's true destiny; <br />surrendered love seeking to survive <br />in life's foxholes <br />too hard history and a soft stone heart <br />can prune prospects of love; <br />so we start with admixtures of both <br />making the hesitant best of it <br />and you wiser than I am <br />mete out stone <br />and vulnerability <br />and I spin <br />hero stance <br />hoping it might eventually <br />become the sensitivity <br />you need <br />granted inside <br />strong man stances <br />which belie <br />and countermand <br />sweet man essences. <br /> <br />This is the mix of all relationships <br />I surmise <br />because life itself <br />demands both <br />no matter <br />if its origins <br />are testosterone driven <br />or estrogen nurturing and <br />our sex I sense <br />will have elements of both. <br /> <br />With this knowledge breathing <br />we approach <br />wondering <br />if this mixture and contour <br />can and will express <br />and envelope us <br />in this our first kiss <br />as opposites <br />approach.<br /><br />Lonnie Hicks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/opposites-approach/
