Where have all the old folks gone, <br />I don't see them anymore <br />Their either tending to their gardens <br />Or painting their front door <br /> <br />Gone are their books because now they've found <br />Laptops and computers, <br />And instead of the old walking stick <br />They use their mobile scooters. <br /> <br />Like stirling moss they rush around <br />I just don't understand, <br />Because years ago the old were old <br />Needing a helping hand. <br /> <br />They seem to be much younger, <br />They've held on to their youth. <br />Gone are the days when they smiled <br />You'd see one old decaying tooth. <br /> <br />They turn up in their trainers <br />And in marathons take part. <br />Years ago this would have stopped <br />An old persons heart. <br /> <br />They rush about, and even dance <br />Or sing a merry tune. <br />It's as though they are reliving <br />That film they call cocoon. <br /> <br />They make me feel so tired <br />Going through life so strong and bold, <br />But i think my real reason for this <br />Is that i feel so old. <br /> <br />So good luck to the old folk <br />I really admire them, <br />And i just can't wait to reach their age <br />So i'll feel young again.<br /><br />wendy. thopliss<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/where-have-all-the-old-folks-gone/
