Nothing lasts for ever - except the LOVE of GOD <br />Tomorrow all forgotten - the streets where once I trod <br />Even in my lifetime - I've seen things come and go <br />The school where I was taught - places I used to know. <br />Buildings fine and monuments - now lie beneath the sod <br />Nothing lasts forever - except the LOVE of GOD. <br /> <br />Nothing lasts forever - except the LOVE of GOD <br />The barns I stored my corn in - the horses I once shod <br />The fields we sowed our wheat in - all concrete covered Malls <br />Now an ugly motorway - the woods I played with Pals <br />Where is she now the sacred cow - of Farmer Ormerod? <br />Nothing lasts forever - except the LOVE of GOD. <br /> <br />Change and decay and building grey - in all around I see <br />I only hope the folks i know - can se the change in me. <br />For since I put my trust in GOD - my future's far from bleak <br />I know this Earth will pass away - so Heaven's love I seek <br />The Lord is my Good Shepherd - I trust His staff and rod <br />For - Nothing lasts for ever - except the LOVE of GOD. <br /> <br />John Knight 2 March 2011.<br /><br />John Knight<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/3-nothing-lasts-for-ever/
