Sitting in the front porch swing, <br />With a cool wind in your face, <br />Can cause one to dream. <br />Of another time and place. <br /> <br />Back when times were simple, <br />Times you cannot replace, <br />Life was easy going then, <br />People moved a slower pace. <br /> <br />Swinging in the old porch swing, <br />Troubles seemed to fade, <br />And the problems of the day, <br />Could somehow be delayed. <br /> <br />The perfect place to sit and talk, <br />Are to wild away the hours, <br />To breath in all the country air, <br />And smell the garden flowers. <br /> <br />Sitting in the swing at twilight, <br />As darkness comes along, <br />Watching all the lightning bugs, <br />Listening to the crickets song. <br /> <br />Maybe your dear Grandma, <br />Sat in the swing with you, <br />And told you many stories, <br />Of all the things she knew. <br /> <br />There was always lots of gossip, <br />Coming from the old porch swing, <br />When neighbors got together, <br />You might hear most anything. <br /> <br />When I think of the old porch swing, <br />And all it does impart. <br />It leaves me with fond memories, <br />And a warm place in my heart. <br /> <br />By <br />Richard Netherland Cook<br /><br />Richard Netherland Cook<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-front-porch-swing/
