I remember... <br />The sunlight coming down through the trees <br />Like spotlights in the cool woods <br /> <br />I can recall, <br />The crunch of the leaves as I walked into the forest <br />The mumur of a stream close by the pathway down <br /> <br />I can hear the soft breeze in the spring time <br />And the sound of the grass rustling in the open meadow <br />The sweet songs of the birds perched high above me <br /> <br />I feel the rough bark of trees that are older than me <br />I touch the rusty red dirt, gritty and cold <br />I sit under a shade tree where the flowers grow <br /> <br />I see the harmony of nature all around me <br />I take a deep breath in <br />And open my eyes <br /> <br />Though I only see concrete hearts with pavement dreams <br />I still remember that quite silence away from this big city <br />I remember... <br /> <br />The wind, the trees, the breath of the living things around me <br />I resided in them and they in me <br />I was in the heart of Nature<br /><br />Peter Vector<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-heart-of-nature/
