Remembering Memorial Day <br /> <br />Eight young men, special in my mind, <br />Special to me, special to their families, <br />A father of four, a friend of more, <br />Where do we find them, men of this kind? <br /> <br />They leave their families for far away places, <br />Some never return, but all very special, <br />They leave their children, never to see, <br />Yet we remember them, we see their faces. <br /> <br />They sacrifice all, for you and me, <br />To preserve our freedoms, to protect us all, <br />In my mind, each and every day, <br />A special day of honor, for the faces I see, <br /> <br />We live in freedom, because of so many, <br />Sacrifices given, for you and me, <br />With no hesitation, they do it each day, <br />They sacrifice all, for the land of plenty, <br /> <br />Many return, while others remain, <br />The pain they suffer, the memories they keep, <br />Within themselves, never to speak, <br />We remember their suffering; we share their pain, <br /> <br />Husbands and wives, to sacrifice all <br />Fathers, brothers, and sisters they come, <br />Where do we find them, we always ask, <br />A question asked, yet they always stand tall, <br /> <br />We must never forget, the path they pave, <br />So we might live, with freedoms we share, <br />The many faces, for the country they save, <br /> <br />God bless them all, <br />Lest we never forget, <br />Our veterans so many, <br />They stand so tall.<br /><br />B.J.
