When the darkness of gloom sweeps around
A ray of hope penetrates ‘em, marking dawn.
As sorrow knits a strangling web over all
Hope alone keeps us moving on…
.
It keeps us alive, even if we feel dead,
Depressed and broken, since nothing’s right.
Amidst all losses and anguish terrible
Hope gives the courage that makes our fight.

For a mind that sinks in misery
And dwells in agony, being dumbstruck
At the cruel, heartless fate and world
Hope heralds an awaiting luck.

Hope is a flickering flame in dark,
Which survives wind and lights up the land.
While falling helpless to unseen depths,
Hope is the hold that gets into hand.

When the grim, fierce clouds refuse to leave,
A rainbow spreads- sky’s hopeful smile.
For her earnest search has made her see,
A silver lining, bright in style.

An encouraging force from within ourselves,
It’s the inner fire that gives us strength.
The refuge that saves from getting lost,
Hope’s the comfort that hugs at length.

Life isn’t all hard, somewhere there’s a reward,
So trust your hope and march past the rest.
Go where it guides, and act as it says,
Hope for the best; your hope will give you the best.

Maria Rose Dominic

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/hope-482/
