There’s nothing more inviting <br />Than my brand new pair of slippers <br />Unless someone invents me <br />Some furry lining knickers. <br /> <br />They sit there by the front door <br />Like a faithful little puppy <br />To greet me when I come back home <br />I really think they’re lovely <br /> <br />I sit there with my feet up <br />My toes as warm as toast. <br />I close my eyes and picture I am <br />Really by the coast. <br /> <br />I lost my job at easter <br />A blessing in a way <br />Cos now I get to wear my cosy footwear <br />Every day. <br /> <br />A world I have created <br />My feet now smell like kippers <br />Cos I spend each hour, night and day <br />In my favourite pair of slippers!<br /><br />Simon Gowen<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/favourite-slippers/
