Bought the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady <br />unfortunately called Edith Holden, like any self- <br />respecting Hollywood director I wish to give her <br />a more pleasing name like Ernestine, Elizabeth <br />or Eileen, her painted illustrations are exquisite <br /> <br />This little fairy diary is a testament to my lack of <br />discernment, if I had realised the importance of <br />elegance and classic good taste, I would have <br />bought something covered in velvet and leather, <br />high-quality paper rough-grained and textured <br /> <br />I would have written with a calligraphy pen, an <br />artwork in itself – this roller pen lacks character <br />and grace; at least I can try to change my hand- <br />writing, as for illustrations – there is no hope, I <br />cannot master watercolours or flowers or birds <br /> <br />But from this page I shall write in small letters, <br />hoping it makes a difference…ah yes, it does <br />and oh, the drawings in the Edwardian diary <br />are pure perfection, I wish I could hang on <br />long enough to some of my own creations <br /> <br />To grace them with a calligraphic script and <br />keep them near me in a fairy book <br />such as this….<br /><br />Margaret Alice Second<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/calligraphic-script/
