Remember... <br />You take nothing from me, <br />With wishes to deplete. <br />I arrived here as the giver. <br />And what you decide, <br />To admit or deny... <br />Will not change, <br />The natural act... <br />Of what you discovered, <br />Me to do. <br />I was approached... <br />Working in the fields of my endeavors. <br /> <br />It, <br />The giving... <br />From me as you see, <br />Has been in many years of production. <br />And the nibbles you've been given to taste, <br />Can still be done. <br />Long after I have gone. <br />The seeds from my deeds... <br />Will grow to be harvested. <br />For as long as some choose to feed. <br /> <br />Not only am I a sharecropper. <br />I am a farmer with a business plan too! <br />I am not here to labor, <br />With my eyes just on you. <br />Look over your shoulder! <br />Those are also the fruits of my labor. <br /> <br />You must have thought I was dancing, <br />Just to get your attention. <br />And singing so you could hear my voice. <br /> <br />Why do you smile? <br />As if you knew.<br /><br />Lawrence S.
