My life is like a book of poetry <br />about things that I've been through. <br />Written in simplicity <br />with just my point of view. <br />May be about a lonely man <br />with his heart broken right in two, <br />or, Might be a simple love poem, <br />with a simple, 'I Love you' <br /> <br />I've walked those streets of loneliness <br />and was surprised at what I've seen. <br />A poor old man with a pen at hand, <br /> he sure looked a lot like me. <br />On his pad he wrote a few lines <br />which he would not let me see <br />I asked him, 'What is this man? <br />' He answered, ' It's only poetry.' <br /> <br />He turned his head to me and said, <br /> <br />We must live life for each moment <br />take in all we can. <br />Hang on to those who care for us <br />it all goes hand in hand. <br />Don't never lose your faith my friend <br />for it's a part of a greater plan. <br /> <br />I hope someday to be recognized <br />for what I have achieved <br />I may end up on a bookshelf <br />just from writing what I believed. <br />Living life to it's fullest <br />touching hearts along the way <br />and maybe leave behind a legacy <br />with the friends I have today. <br /> <br /> <br />(8/16/11)<br /><br />Ronald Kerst<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-book-of-poetry/
