The paths we take now seem to part
And our feet can naught but take the cue
We've come thus far both hand in hand
But feet and hand are both with one
So, leave we must with heavy hearts
As life, it seems, gives no other choice.

A friend you've been in need
A faithful friend in deed
Sticking closer than even a brother
And it pains me so to see you go
It hurts me so to know I'll go
Yet, hope I must to find a friend
Though, none will fit as snugly as you.

I leave dry-eyed, aye, I do
And entreat you to do the same
For, though, my heart overflows as an ocean
My face must be the Island
For I wish to keep the last sight of you a smile
To hold dear to my heart.

My arms in the air, my eyes filled full
My mouth held tight in forced submission
For, wish I do to say, 'Come back'
But, 'Good bye' I say to you, my friend
For, in life, we part to meet again
For a brighter tommorow lies beyond the horizon

'Our paths may later cross', I daresay
And hope I do to find you well
Our paths may never cross, maybe
For such is life in it's uncertainty.
So make good your life ahead with new friends
But remember me in smiles and in tears, as I will you.

Ehi Abah

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/waving-arms/
