Tears fall, they just won't end <br />It seems my aching heart will never mend. <br />Any joy inside quickly dies <br />As I realize soon you will depart from my side. <br />From this earth you cannot leave just yet <br />My mind then fills with lifelong regrets. <br />I need you to stay here with me <br />I hold your hand tight as I plea. <br />But soon embrace your peaceful expression <br />And realize your life could never be measured <br />With anything other than love so true <br />Love that touched all of whom you knew. <br />All the ones you loved so very dearly <br />And even the ones you met just briefly <br />Happiness and inspiration you always brought <br />Fairness and kindness you always sought. <br />And now as we sense your days coming to a close <br />Where you go from here we all know, <br />The place where the Lord will be delighted to see, <br />The wonderful human He made perfectly. <br />In His arms He will hold you forever <br />In His arms fear will touch you never. <br />You will live in unending peace <br />As I imagine this, it becomes bittersweet. <br />Because I know you have completed the tasks <br />That the Lord of you so graciously asked. <br />No more will this world cause you pain <br />Soon we will be reunited once again. <br />Death is not easy, but a natural part of life <br />Just like love, happiness, trials, and strife. <br />I know over me your eyes will look down <br />And I will feel your love all around. <br />Sadness like joy will come and go <br />But the love I have for you will continue to grow. <br />Tears fall, they just won't end <br />But I know my aching heart will one day mend.<br /><br />Kaitlin Schmidt<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-final-farewell/
