As the rain outside worsens so do my fears <br />Of once again resorting to tears <br />But distress becomes too hard to bear <br />And again eyes and tears have to share <br />One tear falls starting a slippery slope <br />Everything is lost and I've given up all hope <br />My heart was left open in a vulnerable state <br />That item should've been guarded at any rate <br />My once complacent affection now sits on a shelf <br />Relieved of feelings circumscribing my former self <br />I'm a reclusive introvert again at last <br />Old wounds have reopened once banished to the past <br />Love must truly be a battlefield where people are hurt <br />For you've ripped out my heart and buried it deep in the dirt <br />Healing a heart shouldn't make pain feel any worse <br />Yet my love is dead and you're driving the hearse <br />Just fifteen years old with my heart broken twice <br />Have I done something wrong and am now paying the price <br />What's the advantage of a heart that's considered pure <br />If opportunity passes you by never knocking on your door <br />I've prayed and hoped and loved and dreamed <br />But what does any of that really mean <br />Nothing if you happen to be Jonathan Sewell <br />Who once again feels like some kind of fool <br />When all is said and done I've learned a valuable lesson <br />So I'll never again have to keep stressing <br />Love is a mirage and we see what we desire <br />But when all is revealed, hopes go up in a blaze of fire<br /><br />Jonathan Sewell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/23-blaze-of-fire/
