Where do you bury the dead in the sky? <br />Those that rose above and served us all <br />The elite of best, that goes beyond Earth. <br />Is the hope of each dawn their crosses upon lawn, <br />or the chorus of each sunset their place of solemn rest? <br />Perhaps in shooting stars so clear and so bright, <br />Ephemeral but precious dreams cast into the night. <br /> <br />Where do you honor those that flew outside the sky <br />Who in reaching for the unknown <br />To light our way afar <br />Beyond the Suns dim light <br />Returned to the dust of stars. <br />Oh how we mourn their tragic flight, <br />And the shattered lives of loved ones by their plight. <br />We must gain from our losses which is sadly always right, <br />In the knowledge that the galaxy will shine a little brighter <br />Into the dark and sacred night.<br /><br />Danny Draper<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/to-the-fallen-in-space/
