Once upon a time,
The colours had a fight;
Each one of them in line,
Proclaimed their right.

Green proudly averred,
‘ I'm the one on Earth,
With be-witching greenery covered—
None is so very worth.'

Blue came forward to say,
‘Oh! My! The rolling sea,
And the skies in sway,
Are all but blue, you see! '

Yellow stood soaring,
‘ Colours of the Sun and Moon
Are mine—brightly glowing,
Only I've the lovely boon, '

Red rushed to declare,
‘I'm in blood—in precious lives,
And am to lead, I swear,
Let's end the stupid jibes.'

Suddenly thunder crashed,
The sky was lit with lighting;
Rain poured and lashed,
The colours were in fear, trembling

They held their hands to-gether,
In their tremendous woe;
And Lo! United they were in splendour,
As they formed an alluring Rainbow!

chandra thiagarajan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/beauty-in-unity/
