Gujarat government had introduced a major change in registering the beneficiaries of public distribution system (PDS) for bar-coded bio-metric ration cards. Instead of earlier practice of getting the finger prints of the head of the family for the cards, it has now been decided to take the finger prints of all the family members but it seems to be a complete failure. People alleged lapses in biometric ration card system and machines are showing error while reading the fingerprints of beneficiaries for the use of the biometric cards due to which people are left fuming.
