While we have had a relatively mild autumn so far, things are getting shaken up today by some of the most fierce gales we have seen all year.

Terrifying waves were filmed hammering Torquay in Devon, as a storm to the west of Britain caused a surge in volatile and dangerous weather.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning of extreme winds reaching up to 70mph in some parts of the country.

Along with the biblical winds, three inches of rains could fall within the next 24 hours, according to forecasters.
The west coast is expected to be hit the hardest, with severe weather warnings being issued for Wales and the south west.
If you’re getting excited about some great kite flying action think again, as the gloomy weather is expected to continue right through the weekend, with a full month’s worth of rain expected to fall by the time the week is through.
A Met Office spokesman told the Sun: ‘There are going to be some heavy showers as a front comes in, with some pretty strong winds in western parts of the country.

‘We could see gusts of 60 to 70mph, with some large rainfall totals over high ground.’

Transport across the country is also expected to be delayed by fallen trees and localised flooding.
