Thirteen years after Western allies defeated the Taliban, NATO ended its operations in Afghanistan in December. But the Taliban are taking back territory.<br /><br />NATO faces new crises, with questions if it should get involved against Islamic extremist rebels in Syria and Iraq. <br /><br />With fighting near NATO member Turkey’s border what should NATO and Europe do to stabilise and restore peace to nearby regions?<br /><br />Would intervention be a solution to the waves of refugees on European shores?<br /><br />Or like in Afghanistan and Libya, would NATO’s intervention without deeper international commitment to state-building only lead to more chaos and bloodshed?<br /><br />These and others are the questions up for debate with anchor Chris Burns. <br /><br />His discussion panel includes Richard Froh, Deputy Assistant Secretary General at NATO’s Operations Division; Afzal Khan, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Security and Defence Subcommittee and a member of the Socialists and Democrats; and Pauline Massart, Deputy Director of the Brussels think tank Security & Defence Agenda. <br /><br />Watch the video
