South Korea conducts amphibious landing drill

The Navy and Marine Corps of South Korea staged a large-scale amphibious landing drill on Tuesday (November 18) as part of their annual joint military exercises.<br/> <br />On a beach near the port city of Pohang, about 370 km (230 miles) southeast of Seoul, about 1,900 soldiers participated in the Hoguk drills.<br/> <br />The Marines said 20 amphibious assault vehicles, 20 warships, as well as 40 aircraft were mobilised for the drill.<br/> <br />South Korea's Defence Ministry has said the military will hold the Hoguk defence exercise for two weeks from November 10 and mobilise 330,000 troops.<br/> <br />Last week, North Korea denounced South Korea for the annual military drills, saying they were a rehearsal for war.
