NBC drops new Bill Cosby show amid rape allegations

US TV network NBC has cancelled a proposed project with actor and comedian Bill Cosby amid a flurry of accusations on social media saying that he has sexually assaulted several women.<br /><br />Several have come from named women, and date back almost 30 years. They have resurfaced now after a fellow comic called him a rapist during a stand-up comedy routine last month.<br /><br />NBC cancelled their programme after a model and TV presenter Janice Dickinson accused Cosby of having sexually assaulted her after a dinner in 1982.<br /><br />The day before NBC’s action the streaming service Netflix had postponed a pending comedy special.<br /><br />Cosby is best known for playing the much loved patriarch Cliff Huxtable in the top-ranked sitcom, “The Cosby Show”.<br /><br />The actor who is considered a national treasure in the US has never been charged for any of the alleged crimes.
