Mike Nichols, a nine-time Tony Award-winner and Oscar-winning director has died.<br/> <br />Nichols was married to Diane Sawyer, former anchorwoman of ABC's "World News Tonight" broadcast.<br/> <br />The director was born in Berlin and came to the United States at age 7 when his family fled the Nazis in 1939.<br/> <br />No director ever moved between Broadway and Hollywood as easily as Nichols.<br/> <br />He also was one of the few people to win an EGOT, which is an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.<br/> <br />Nichols, who was 83, had three children from his earlier marriages.
