Residents in central Japan begin cleaning up Sunday morning after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake the night before damaged homes and buildings and left 39 people injured.<br/> <br />Personal items in this house were broken or destroyed... some homes were completely levelled.<br/> <br />Despite the severe looking damage to the homes, officials said every one who was trapped was rescued.<br/> <br />The quake also triggered a landslide that blocked local rail services and roads.<br/> <br />Weather officials said no tsunami warning had been issued, although the quake was felt 110 miles away in Tokyo.<br/> <br />Japan lies on the Ring of Fire arc of volcanoes and oceanic trenches that account for about 20 percent of the world's earthquakes of magnitude 6 or higher.<br/> <br />The 9.0 magnitude quake that shook the ocean off the northern coast of Japan in 2011 triggered a massive tsunami that killed nearly 20,000 people.
