With roads transformed into rivers after days of heavy rain, the United Nations relief agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has declared an Emergency in Gaza City.<br /><br />The downpours have brought fresh devastation after this summer’s 50-day war in the Gaza Strip between Hamas and Israel.<br /><br />Not only were more than 2,100 Palestinians killed, mostly civilians according to the UN, but entire neighbourhoods were levelled.<br /><br />Basic civil infrastructure is now lacking with tens of thousands of people still homeless.<br /><br />The extreme weather as winter moves in has only intensified the misery of those already in a desperate plight.
