An appeal court in New York has rejected a bid to have human rights extended to a chimpanzee.<br /><br /> The case was brought by an animal rights advocate on behalf of Tommy, a 26 year-old chimp, who lives in a cage in upstate New York. <br /><br /> The judges decided that chimpanzees cannot be submitted to societal responsibilities or be held legally responsible fo their actions.<br /><br /> The lawyer who brought the case says he will now ask New York’s top court to hear the case.
