A French hostage has been freed by North African Islamist militants who had abducted him in Mali three years ago.<br /><br /> Serge Lazarevic was taken by AQIM (Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb) in November 2011.<br /><br /> The 50-year-old businessman, who has French and Serbian nationality, had last appeared in a video put online by his kidnappers.<br /><br /> News of his release was announced by President Hollande, who said that France now had no more hostages waiting to be freed.<br /><br /> Lazarevic was seized along with French geologist Philippe Verdon, who was killed by the Islamists last year in what they said was retaliation for the French military intervention in Mali.
