Rescuers have been struggling to reach more than 100 missing people on Indonesia’s main island of Java.<br /><br /> Torrential rain triggered a landslide that buried houses and destroyed an entire village.<br /><br /> Α flood of mud and water poured down this mountainside as rescuers, police and soldiers searched for signs of the missing.<br /><br /> At least 11 people were killed when more than one hundred homes were swept away by mud gushing into Jemblung village in the centre of the island. <br /><br /> It was the second landslide in several days on the densly populated island.<br /><br /> Hundreds of people have been sent to shelters, however Indonesia’s national disaster agency said the evacuation route has been damaged. Further hampering rescue efforts has been the lack of a telephone signal.<br /><br /> Landslides and mudslides are common in Indonesia during the monsoon season .. that usually runs from October to April.
