After five years in a Cuban prison, American aid worker Alan Gross is on his way home.<br/> <br />A U.S. official said Cuba released Gross on Wednesday, amid reports of a prisoner exchange that heralds a major overhaul of U.S. policy toward Cuba.<br/> <br />Gross had been arrested in 2009.<br/> <br />He was later convicted for importing banned technology and trying to establish clandestine internet service for Cuban Jews.<br/> <br />The U.S. official said the 65-year-old was released on humanitarian grounds.
