The first of the bomb attacks in northern Nigeria on Monday was at this bus station in Gombe.<br/> <br />Two explosions went off in quick succession.<br/> <br />At least 20 people were killed.<br/> <br />Emergency services officials said twice as many were wounded.<br/> <br />Some hours later another bomb exploded at this market in Bauchi.<br/> <br />At least seven died in that blast.<br/> <br />Another 19 people have been wounded but medical staff were saying on Monday the total casualty figures weren't yet clear.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE)(English) SAEED ABUBAKAR, DEPUTY MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, SAYING:<br/> <br />"There was a mass casualty resulting from the bomb blast that occurred somewhere around the market there. Now, up till now we are still getting casualties coming in."<br/> <br />There was no immediate claim of responsibility for either attack.<br/> <br />But Boko Haram insurgents have repeatedly targeted civilians in the north where they're trying to carve out an Islamic state.
