ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br /> <br />Security forces fired rounds of tear gas as they tried to disperse a crowd of demonstrators outside the home of the detained head of Bahrain's main Shi'ite Muslim opposition group on Tuesday (December 30).<br /> <br />Protesters had gathered in Bilad al-Qadeem village and some hurled rocks and iron rods at police.<br /> <br />Sheikh Ali Salman, head of the al-Wefaq Islamic Society, was arrested on Sunday (December 28), after leading a protest rally against last month's elections.<br /> <br />He was remanded in custody for a further week on Tuesday, an al-Wefaq official said.<br /> <br />The Bahraini government could not be immediately reached for comment on the clash.<br /> <br />In Geneva, the United Nations human right office said it was concerned at the detention and that a potentially lengthy prison sentence could be handed to Salman.<br /> <br />Salman's lawyers said he had been accused of serious charges, including calling for the overthrow of the government, the spokeswoman
